Frequently Asked Questions
An in-home care registry, like Advanced CareQuest, is a service that connects families with independent caregivers, such as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), for home-based care. We recommend qualified CNAs who are available to provide personal care, assistance with daily activities, and other non-medical services to individuals in the home.
A CNA can assist with a wide variety of tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming; assistance with mobility and transfers; medication reminders (non-administered); light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, meal prep); assistance with eating and feeding; companionship and social interaction; monitoring health conditions under the guidance of a nurse or physician; and help with exercises or physical therapy routines.
A CNA is a trained and certified healthcare professional who has completed formal education and passed state certification exams. While CNAs provide personal care and assistance, they are not licensed to perform medical procedures, such as administering medications or IVs
No, the CNAs we recommend are independent caregivers, not employees. We connect families with qualified CNAs, but the CNAs work on a freelance basis and are not directly employed by the registry.
At Advanced CareQuest, we thoroughly vet all CNAs, including verifying: current certification and licensure; background checks (including criminal history); references from previous employers or clients; experience relevant to your caregiving needs; and any specialized training or additional certifications (e.g., dementia care, CPR).
Costs can vary depending on factors such as the CNA’s experience, the services required, and the location. Most independent caregivers charge an hourly rate for care, with the registry charging an hourly coordination fee.
Since CNAs are independent caregivers, they may carry their own liability insurance and bonding.
In the case that the independent caregiver is not the right fit, you are able to request an alternative.
Scheduling is typically managed directly between you and the CNA, with the assistance of the registry. You will agree on the hours, days, and duration of care needed. We offer a secure portal that will allow you to maintain your independent caregivers schedule.
When hiring an independent caregiver, you are responsible for providing a 1099. However, we provide access to a third-party company that will handle that for you!
We want to ensure a smooth payment process without the worry of giving out banking information. Our third-party company will allow you to enter your credit card or banking information directly into the portal so no one else is able to see it. A weekly payment will be taken once the hours are verified to be correct each Tuesday morning.
